Ahoy, Mateys. Our 40-Year Reunion is just a little over 2 months away. Your trusty Reunion Committee has been hard at work behind-the-scenes fussing with the myriad details to make it all happen. The Reunion will be casual, easy, welcoming and a whole lot of fun with longtime friends. You’re gonna wanna be there… really!
We’ve got the Registration page up and running, so click on over, say “Yes!”, send in your money and mark your calendar. We’ll see you there.
There are still quite a few classmates that we can’t find. We’ve got old snail mail addresses, wrong email addresses, or nothing at all. We’re trying to make sure that everyone knows about the reunion, so if you know the whereabouts of some of these folks, please let us know -OR- give our class email address to the classmate that’s listed as missing and have them get in touch, pretty please.
Mmm, yum. Several members of your trusty Reunion Committee met today on this sunny afternoon and taste-tested the menu items for the 40-Year Reunion’s Saturday evening event. We wanted to lick the plate it was all so delicious!
In choosing a caterer, we wanted someone that could deliver tasty, freshly-prepared, healthful food.
We opted for the Mediterranean Selection from Lavish Roots, a local catering company. (While we were there, we talked to owners Carly and Brandon, and heard about her Dad and cousins, HHS grads.)
This is a meal you’d be thrilled to serve to company, and will be happy to relish.
(Click on the photos to make them plate-sized.)
Wandering through Costco the other day, I saw this book and smiled.
How could I NOT think of my classmates, the HHS Pirates Class of ’75?
Ahoy, Mateys!
Maureen
Walking down memory lane, I selected “Out in the Country” by Three Dog Night. My music collection then yielded “Mama Told Me Not to Come”.
Well, your mama surely wouldn’t say that about our 40-Year Reunion! She would tell you to put the reunion on your calendar and get on down to the Cove to see your long-time* friends again.
*(Some time ago I stopped saying “old friends” ’cause it just seemed to hit a little too close to home. : ) We’re not “old”… right?!)
Favorite music? What’s that quintessential song from our HHS days that you’ve just gotta hear at our reunion, 40 YEARS LATER.
We’re compiling a Reunion Playlist. What’s on YOUR list?
Send us your thoughts… and we’ll see you then.
Ahoy Mateys,
Maureen

Get the reunion on your calendar for August 21 and 22!
Yesterday evening, March 1, 2015, your friendly, dedicated Reunion Committee got together for some potluck sustenance and hard work on the 40-Year Reunion planning. We all met at Maureen’s house and gobbled down some food. Then we stickered and stamped the “Save the Date” post cards, prepping them to go in the mail.
We’re using the same artwork that classmate Maureen Hoffmann designed 10 years ago for the 30-Year Reunion, reminiscent of the iconic artwork of artist, Peter Max.
(In order to save our precious few funds, we’re only sending out post cards to those classmates for whom we have no email address. We’re trying to do as much as possible through online communications to save money on printing and mailing costs. So make sure we have your email address!)
Mark Meyer, Cathy Hutchison Bellah, Conn McQuinn (HHS Class of ’74), Betsy Wildish McQuinn and Phil Isernio gather ’round the bevy of potluck dishes, fueling themselves for the “hard work” of stickering the post cards.
Arden Gremmert, Eva Doherty Gremmert, Betsy Wildish McQuinn and Mark Meyer chat and laugh as they put address labels and stamps on the post cards. “Uga-chacka” (Hooked on a Feeling) is playing in the background, by special request of Betsy. It’s “her” song.
“Blank” post cards can be customized by whatever label we decide to stick onto them. We can use these forever.
After eating lots of good food and applying lots of good stamps, we discussed some of the myriad details required to make the reunion happen.
Being involved with the Reunion Committee activities is lots of fun and there’s always something to do. If you’d like to get involved, send us an email. We meet once a month or so and divvy up the to-do list.
Some of our classmates have parted way too soon and we want to honor and remember them here. We have an “In Memoriam” section on this web site. Please take a look, think of old friends, and let us know if we’ve overlooked anyone. If you have an obit, recollection, photo or further information, please send it to us at highlineclassof75@gmail.com.
40 years ago, Saturday Night Live aired their first show, Jaws was making an impact at the theaters and over 400 students from Highline High School walked down the aisle at Highline Community College to receive their diploma from Ken Teller. We thought we were so smart then. If only we knew then what we know now, we would all be in big trouble!
Take a moment to dig out your old Pirate’s Logs from our high school years and leaf through the pages. You will probably see notes from friends wishing you good luck and promises to keep in touch. Reality has probably gotten in the way of good intentions and you haven’t seen them in years. Why not use the 40-Year Reunion as the chance you have been looking for to rekindle the old friendships. We’ve all changed and if the last reunion was any indication, we’ve turned into a rather diverse group of individuals. Come and see what we’ve all been doing for 40 years.
Reunion committee here and we’re looking for a few good shipmates. Know any? We are looking for classmates who attended Highline and would have graduated in ’75, but for one reason or other, didn’t walk down the aisle with us. They are all invited to the 40-Year Reunion coming up in August. If you can find them, send them here to our www.highlineclassof75.com website to get more information and to register. They’re gonna wanna be there!
Lotsa details to sort out between now and the 40 Year Reunion on August 22. A cluster of classmates will be meeting to make planning progress tomorrow. Care to join in?
