In Memoriam: Verne Wammer

20 October 1956 – 2 July 2003

Married 20 April 1991 to Kimberly Anne Daggett.

Verne William Wammer, 46, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 in Tacoma, WA. He was the eldest son of Norman and Katherine Ann Wammer, residents of Kent, WA.

Mr. Wammer and his siblings grew up in Burien and lived in the same home for 31 years. There were many happy experiences shared together. He attended Chelsea Park Elementary School, Seahurst Jr. High and Highline High School. He graduated in 1975.

He enjoyed snow-skiing and kayaking with his brothers. He helped save two young men’s lives while they were out kayaking together. The family spent many a long weekend at the Caswell Beach House in Long Beach where fond memories and lasting friendships were made.

Mr. Wammer was an active Boy Scout and earned the rank of Eagle Scout, along with five of his brothers. He especially enjoyed the Scouting activities and campouts with his fellow Scouts.

Verne was a painting contractor and was skilled in his profession. He took pride in his workmanship. He and his brothers were trained in the business by their father, Norman. He had a tender heart and loved his children dearly. He also had a fondness for his brothers and sisters and his parents. He loved having his mother prepare cabbage rolls for the family. He loved to make cakes, the chocolate kind. He expressed his belief in God and the restored gospel plan many times to his Dad and Mom. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Anne (Daggett) and their two children, Chelsea and Chad, his parents, Norman and Ann Wammer, his eleven siblings: Paula Carlos of White Horse, Yukon Territory, Canada; Karen Waddington of Renton; Sharlene Mercado of Everett; Lori Osborne of Renton; Sheryl Taylor of Seattle; Lyle Wammer of Burien; Gene Wammer of Sammamish; Dale Wammer of Des Moines; Darryl Wammer of Burien; Nathan Wammer of Normandy Park; and Mark Wammer of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his brother in death, Jesse.
