In Memoriam: Gregory “Greg” Bruce Gasser
25 May, 1956 – 10 Mar 2011
Greg passed away on March 10, 2011 after a valiant battle with Crohn’s Disease and finally cancer. Greg passed away at Highline Medical Center, Burien, WA, with resolve saying, “I am at peace and everything is in the Lord’s hands.”
Born at Wright Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio, to Karla Margaret Templin Gasser and Colonel Clyde Daniel Gasser, Greg joined four older siblings. He was nicknamed “Sput” by his father who was involved with the US Space Program and chose this name after the Russian launch of Sputnik. A graduate of Highline High School, Burien, WA, in 1975, Greg studied world history, governments, coin collecting, and culinary arts. He loved bicycling, wilderness camping and was knowledgeable about survival techniques, weather, and forestry. He toured Europe and Greece several times as well as returning to places he’d lived in his youth.
He was employed by Host International at SeaTac Airport and later by Skyway Courier where he travelled throughout Western Washington for many years. As a longtime member of Church of Agape, Renton, Washington, he enjoyed the fellowship and support of this community very much.
Greg is survived by his sisters Jacqueline S Gasser, SF, CA, Theresa A Gasser, Des Moines, WA, Diane D Gasser Powell Blade (James), Tacoma, WA, and brother Daniel H Gasser, Des Moines, WA. In loving memory of our brother, donations can be made in Greg’s name to Highline Medical Center, their Cancer Center, and their Hospice Department. The family extends their gratitude and thanks to everyone who cared for Greg and for the comfort and support given to the family.
