In Memoriam: Gary Duran

Born 18 February 1957

“Gary was one of the first guy friends I made at Seahurst. He was a riot! Me, I was just a little Catholic Girl straight out of St. Francis. Stepping into public school was an exciting adventure for me. I was very happy to have had Gary for friend. I especially remember watching him wrestle and do gymnastic. I thought he was pretty incredible at these things. Most of all, I remember having him as my dancing partner in folk dancing class.”

“What to say about Gary? He was an incredible athlete, a good friend and always fun to around. In our senior year, a bunch of us would meet for lunch in the cafetorium. Every day Gary sat with us he ate 2 maple bars, I always thought he would get tired of them, but he never did. He also had a car he was so proud of 1960something Ford Falcon navy blue, we all called that car The Falcoon. It was just a little quirky, just like Gary, it was a perfect fit. I was really hoping to see Gary and see how his life turned out. Instead, I’ll just have to remember Gary the way he was, and that always makes me smile.”
